MOTIVATION: The Desire to Live

Daily motivation also comes in the simple desire to live. Whether children, a job, or money inspires someone to get out of bed in the morning, that person is motivated by something in life.
Even natural things can motivate someone to maintain a positive attitude about life even when times get hard. A person can take pleasure in nature's beauty by taking time to smell the roses or listen to the birds sing. Studies show that people who live in warmer climates have a more positive attitude about life in general. These same people also have the tendency to go outside and exercise more often. This exercise brings about a sense of inner peace and positive feelings, thus becoming a daily motivation for many people.

“Everything you can imagine is real.”- Pablo Picasso

Even the most productive people still have to motivate themselves every day. They spend a lot of time working out what motivates them to keep going and that's how they achieve many of the amazing things they achieve. It's been that way for hundreds of years and will be that way for hundreds more. It's human nature.
"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

“The slogan ‘press on’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race" -Calvin Coolidge

Persistence is linked to motivation. If you're persistent, you'll find ways to keep yourself motivated even if you're not completely enchanted by your current work. You'll push through and find ways to keep at it at least, that is, until it guides you to something you are enchanted by - at which point motivation will come more naturally.

"People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily." -Zig Ziglar

The aphorism, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he”, not only embraces the whole of a man’s being, but it is so comprehensive as to reach out to every condition and circumstances of his life. A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.
Act is the blossom of thought, and joy and suffering are its fruit; thus does a man garner in the sweet and bitter fruitage of his own husbandry. Man is made or unmade by himself. In the armory of thought he forges the weapons by which he builds for himself heavenly mansions of joy and strength and peace.
By the right choice and true application of thought, man ascends to the divine perfection. By the abuse and wrong application of thought he descends below the level of the beast. Between these two extremes are all the grade of character and man is their maker and master.
As the lord of his own thoughts, man holds the key to every situation, and conditions he find himself. Of all the beautiful truths pertaining to the soul which have been restored and brought to light in this age, none is more gladdening or fruitful of divine promise and confidence than this- that man are the master of thought, the molder of character, and the maker and shaper of condition, environment, and destiny. As a being of power, intelligence, and love, he may make himself what he wills.

NO EXCUSES! DISCIPLINE YOURSELF.

The first rule of success is simple: Vote yourself off the
island of excuses!
No more excuses! Do it or don’t do it—but don’t make
excuses. Stop using your incredible brain to think up elaborate
rationalizations and justifications for not taking action.
Do something. Do anything. Get on with it! Repeat
to yourself: “If it’s to be, it’s up to me!”

Losers make excuses; winners make progress. Now,
how can you tell if your favorite excuse is valid or not?

It’s simple. Look around and ask, “Is there anyone else
who has my same excuse who is successful anyway?”

When you ask this question, if you are honest, you will
have to admit that there are thousands and even millions
of people who have had it far worse than you have who
have gone on to do wonderful things with their lives. And
what thousands and millions of others have done, you
can do as well—if you try.

It has been said that if people put as much energy into
achieving their goals as they spend making up excuses for
failure, they would actually surprise themselves. But first,
you have to vote yourself off the island.

Humble Beginnings

Very few people start off with many advantages. Personally,
I had it rough. I had to struggle for the little I had; in terms of education, skills, and a limited future. And then I began asking that question: “Why are some people more successful
than others?” This question changed my life.

NO EXCUSES!

Over the years, I have read hundreds of books and articles
on the subjects of success and achievement. It seems
that the reasons for these accomplishments have been discussed
and written about for more than 2,000 years, in
every conceivable way.
One quality that most philosophers, teachers, and experts
agree on is the importance of self-discipline.

Discipline is what you must have to resist the lure of excuses.
It is self-discipline that enables you to “vote yourself
off the island.” It is the key to a great life and, without it,
no lasting success is possible.

The development of self-discipline changed my life, and
it will change yours as well.
